Tips to Create Resume For Study Abroad
When you hear the word resume, the first thing that
comes to your mind is job hunting. However, did you know that if you are a
student aspiring to go abroad for higher studies, you would also have to send
out your resume with the applications to the universities?
In US and Canada, both are considered different, with
resume being shorter than a CV. It is also sent out to universities along with
your applications, used mainly as a marketing tool to promote one’s capabilities
and strengths to the admissions committee.
A resume that you send should normally include a brief
introduction of you background, your scholastic achievements and
accomplishments.
Let’s have a look at the format for your resume.
·
It
should have a title with the contact details and name of the applicant.
·
Then
you can go on to give the academic or educational qualification and details.
·
Since
you are looking to study abroad, be sure to include the scores of the tests
that you would have attempted, such as SATs, GMAT, GRE, TOEFL or IELTS.
·
If
you have done well in any extracurricular or in your studies, mention the award
you received for it.
·
Give
a brief mention of the co-curricular activities or the internships and work
experience that you may have gained along the way.
·
You
can also give details of the voluntary work that you may have done.
·
You
resume should also have a reference section, where you can mention names and
contact details of those who can vouch for your character, work ethics, achievements
and such details. For reference, you could give names of your school teacher or
maybe your employer.
A well prepared resume highlighting your capabilities
and plus points on the basis of truth will sure impress the admissions
committee.
